Celebrant stories

Conducting a wedding ceremony on the last repetitive day of the century.

When the email came through in September a wedding planner wanted to hire me for the ceremony, I didn’t think too much about the date, 12th December, nothing unusual.

It wasn’t until I put it on my calendar that I realized it was 12/12/12 and the time for the ceremony 12!! I feel like a bit of a scratched record when I say it, I can’t stop saying 12!!

The day came around and in true Tenerife style the weather was a comfortable 20 degrees. And a really beautiful setting in a golf club house by the pool a flower arch and gazebo was just perfect. ( please see the featured venue)

Surprisingly the bride turned up on time as well.

The ceremony was beautiful as always!! And lasted about half an hour, and thankfully there were no fly overs!! (The golf course is directly under the flight path for Tenerife south airport)

The groom was a very ill man but he made it through the ceremony and held out for the photos, he literally was laying down until I fetched him for the start and laid down after the photos for about half an hour to get ready for the reception.

It was a small wedding with about 20 people max so it was very close family only.

I’m sure they had a great time; I asked if they were going to engrave their rings and they when they return to the U.K it will be inscribed with the roman numerals.

I feel privileged to have been a part of that day in history it was nice.

see you soon
