The two bouquet ceremony

Posted by Claire Oxenham on July 8, 2013 at 5:15 PM

This week I’m dipping into the symbolic ceremony again, as it’s such an open subject that really the sky is the limit!!

There are no rules to the symbolic ceremony you can even create your own, so any ideas that you have then don’t be shy!

But I’m going to look at the traditions in Burma, and the two bouquet ceremony.

Both the bride and groom hold flowers bouquets during the recitation of their vows.

The symbolism here is that the importance of the vows apply as strongly to the groom as it does the bride, when they have finished taking their vows both the bride and groom dip their hands in a shared bowl of water representing the water of life.

Another useful bit of information!

:D
